The 19th British Open will take place on the second weekend of April and is one of the longest running backgammon tournaments in the UK. The event will be held at the Barcelo Hinckley Hotel, with about 100 entrants expected who from the UK, Italy, Germany and Japan.

The 2009 British Open was won by British Jon Barnes, a veteran BIBA British Isles Backgammon Association tournaments player, who outplayed Gaz Owen in the 5-points final. It was the first major victory for Barnes, who has been playing backgammon for 25 years. He and the Consolation, Last Chance, poker and other events' winners, took home the traditional sandglass trophy and a bottle of vintage wine.
